The Beach Haven Library will host Margaret Thomas Buchholz on October 25 @ 1:00 PM as she presents a slide show and readings from her classic books Shore Chronicles: Diaries and Traveler's Tales from the Jersey Shore 1764-1955 and Island Album: Photographs and Memories of Long Beach Island.

Hear tales and personal stories spanning the ages, from a time when the shore was still a wild frontier in the years before the Revolutionary War through the mid-1950s when the opening of the Garden State Parkway forever changed the Island from what it was before.

Stories of sailing and fishing … of treks by horse, stagecoach, train and car … of beach camping, lifeguards and coastal rescue … of flappers and bathing beauties in rented woolen suits …

of violent storms and the endless struggle to resist a hungry sea …

of regret for wilderness lost and the slower pace of much of the last century.
